The Capital Chapter is one of the oldest among the Alfa Romeo Owners Club, founded in 1959, barely one year after our national Club began. Back then Alfas were rare — hard to find, difficult to maintain, challenging to understand — and the Club gave enthusiasts (“Alfisti”) a place to learn how to keep them happy, and to exchange knowledge and parts, and to share their passion. There are many more of the cars now, both vintage and modern, and their owners still enjoy having a Club to connect us with each other so we can learn more about cars, events, and opportunities.
If you are an Alfa owner yourself, or someone interested in this century-old Italian automotive brand, we’d love to get to know you and share the thrills of the open road, the show field, and the track!
The Alfa Romeo Owners Club is a national organization. You can join the Club at www.aroc-usa.org. If you live in our region (Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia), select the Maryland MD (Chapter 04) Capital Chapter AROC membership, to sign on to our Chapter at no additional cost. Joining AROC with the Capital Chapter membership is $68.00 annually.
We look forward to keeping you updated on our club driving events, the annual AROC National Convention, and unique opportunities offered by our sponsors and regional Alfa Romeo studios. With close to 200 local Alfisti members, we hope you join the DMV chapter today and on the next club drive!

Saturday, June 4: Trip to Paul Wilson’s Collection in Fairfield | Those who attended our March dinner meeting were treated to a fascinating presentation by Paul Wilson about the pair of vintage Alfa Romeos he has envisioned and built at his home in Fairfield, Virginia, along with his other wide-ranging automotive interests. Paul hosted the Chapter at his farm for a well-received tour several years ago, and following this presentation he invited us back for a visit that will surely be a treat for all fans of rolling automotive art. Richard Viglucci is coordinating this visit with Paul on behalf of the Chapter.
Paul’s current project is an Alfa 6C2500 roadster envisioned as it might have been crafted by an Itailan coachbuilder in 1948. In addition to the special opportunities that are unique to our being in the relative region, Paul will be speaking about his endeavors at the AROC National Convention in June. You can learn more at: https://velocetoday.com/paul-wilsons-alfa-6c-2500-roadster-part-4/ Paul lives off Route 64 south of Staunton and west of Charlottesville, roughly 175 miles from DC and a 3-hour drive.
The plan is to leave early on Saturday, June 4 to arrive at Paul’s farm at 285 Sales Mill Road, Fairfield by 11:30 AM. Meet-ups to caravan will be set depending on who is coming from where, so please RSVP with that information to Richard.Viglucci@gmail.com. Attendees might also wish to head down earlier to relax in the beautiful area around Fairfield.
Monday, June 6, 2022 | 6:30 PM | Monthly Dinner Meeting: Pizza by the Pool | The June monthly meeting will be an outdoor, poolside pizza party at Brewster Thackeray’s house. Join fellow Alfa fans to talks cars and life. The gathering starts at 6:30 pm at Makepeace Manor, 6516 Montrose St., Alexandria VA 22312.
This location is close to and just inside the 495 Beltway and near 395 as well. There will be lawn parking for the first 20 Alfa Romeos and/or collector cars, and other non-Alfas should park on the opposite side of the street. The Club will provide pizza and drinks. Please RSVP to BrewThack@gmail.com with the number in your party to ensure adequate food.
Attendees are welcome to bring bathing suits and towels and enjoy the heated pool. In the event of rain, the gathering will move to the garage.
Our meetings are an opportunity to share Alfa connections and support, and to plan upcoming events. The chapter’s monthly dinner gatherings will be planned on a month-to-month schedule and in accordance to the latest CDC guidelines. We ask only fully vaccinated people to attend, and even then, only those who feel safe doing so. The dinners typically alternate between three DMV restaurant locations. If you’re new to the club, we encourage you to attend and meet your fellow Capital Alfa Club members.

TBD 2022 | All Italian Car Show, Vienna, VA | For years we’ve watched British, German, and Japanese marques host annual car shows in the area, and wondered why there was no Italian car show in Washington D.C. So this year, we’re going to have an even bigger Concorso! We welcome cars from Virginia, Maryland, the District and beyond. The DC Italian Car Show typically draws cars from Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Ferrari, Maserati, Autobianchi, and Siata, as well as Italian motorcycles. We look forward to seeing 100+ shiny examples of local Italian automotive art on display in 2022.
This summer, Brewster is looking at dates for a trip to the Antique Automobile Club of America Museum in Hershey PA. They have a brilliant display of Tuckers that used to be curated by our late Chapter friend David Cammack, plus many cool cars, motorcycles, and even toy trains to ensure something for everyone.
October 29th, 2022 | 4th Annual Fall Drive: We’ll start with an Alfa corral at our region’s premier Cars & Coffee in Hunt Valley, Maryland, followed by a 60-mile country roads rally, and finish with lunch at one of our area’s fine, authentic Italian eateries. So stay tuned for further event details of Phil and Rita Schleider’s annual organized driving tour through the Maryland countryside. And if you are interested, check out last year’s annual fall drive photos by scrolling down halfway through the Member Driving Fun webpage.
