Alfa Romeo Owners Club (AROC) Capital Chapter ~ Driving DC, Maryland, & Northern Virginia Alfas since 1959

The Capital Chapter is one of the oldest among the Alfa Romeo Owners Club, founded in 1959, barely one year after our national Club began. Back then Alfas were rare — hard to find, difficult to maintain, challenging to understand — and the Club gave enthusiasts a place to learn how to keep them happy, and to exchange knowledge and parts, and to share their passion. There are many more of the cars now, both vintage and modern, and their owners still enjoy having a Club to connect us with each other so we can learn more about cars, events, and opportunities.

If you are an Alfa owner yourself, or someone interested in this century-old Italian automotive brand, we’d love to get to know you and share the thrills of the open road, the show field, and the track!

The Alfa Romeo Owners Club is a national organization. You can join the Club at www.aroc-usa.org. If you live in our region (Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia) be sure to sign on to our Chapter at no additional cost. We look forward to keeping you updated on our events, the AROC National Convention, and unique opportunities offered by our sponsors and regional Alfa Romeo studios.

Il Calendario – 2020 Capital Chapter Events

May 9 | All Italian Car Show, 9 am to 3 pm at Nottoway Park, Vienna, VA

For years we’ve watched British, German, and Japanese marques host annual car shows in the area, and wondered why there was no Italian car show in Washington D.C. – the most influential city in the world – so for the fourth year, we’re going to have a terrific Concorso! We welcome cars from Virginia, Maryland, the District and beyond. Look forward to seeing 100 shiny examples of Italian automotive art on display.

Held at Nottoway Park in Vienna, Virginia on May 9, 2020, the fourth annual DC Italian Car Show will draw cars from Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Ferrari, Maserati, Autobianchi, and Siata, as well as Italian motorcycles. Check back in February for the registration link. Pre-registration (prior to the event) is $15, and registration the day-of is $20.  Food trucks and music will be on site, as well as vehicle judging and awards, to include People’s Choice, Best in Show, and others .

July 19-26, 2020 | This year the 2020 National Convention, Looking Back/Moving Forward will be in Colorado Springs, Co. Learn more here. Every year, AROC hosts a national convention. Our chapter hosted the 2010 one for Alfa’s centennial, in Frederick, Md. The 2019 Convention was held in Pittsburgh and you can check out some photos from Cortile della Corsa by clicking here.

September 10-13, 2020 | Vintage Grand Prix at the Glen
Watkins Glen History and prestige return to the home to the birthplace of North American road racing with the Hilliard U.S. Vintage Grand Prix at the Glen one of the largest vintage racing events in the country. Paired with Friday’s Grand Prix Festival in downtown Watkins Glen, the Grand Prix weekend is a true celebration of the motorsport’s past, along with the cars and people who have made it what it is today. In addition to the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA), the on-track portion of the weekend also includes the highly competitive Trans-Am Championship.

September 19, 2020 | Save the Date for the Annual Capital Chapter Social hosted by Brad and Maggie Mellor in Vienna, VA. The Club will provide some food and drink, and we encourage you to bring a dish, dessert and/or side — and to RSVP so we know who is coming and bringing what. We also need volunteers for setup and breakdown.

Stay tuned for a full and fun calendar of our 2020 events, coming soon! For further information, please contact the Chapter president, Brewster Thackeray, BrewThack@gmail.com or 703/508-4418
