Alfa Romeo Owners Club (AROC) Capital Chapter ~ Driving D.C., Maryland, & Northern Virginia Alfas since 1959

The Capital Chapter is one of the oldest among the Alfa Romeo Owners Club, founded in 1959, barely one year after our national Club began. Back then Alfas were rare — hard to find, difficult to maintain, challenging to understand — and the Club gave enthusiasts a place to learn how to keep them happy, and to exchange knowledge and parts, and to share their passion. There are many more of the cars now, both vintage and modern, and their owners still enjoy having a Club to connect us with each other so we can learn more about cars, events, and opportunities.

If you are an Alfa owner yourself, or someone interested in this century-old Italian automotive brand, we’d love to get to know you and share the thrills of the open road, the show field, and the track!

The Alfa Romeo Owners Club is a national organization. You can join the Club at www.aroc-usa.org. If you live in our region (Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia), select the Maryland MD (Chapter 04) Capital Chapter AROC membership, to sign on to our Chapter at no additional cost. AROC with the Capital Chapter membership is $68.00 annually. We look forward to keeping you updated on our club driving events, the annual AROC National Convention, and unique opportunities offered by our sponsors and regional Alfa Romeo studios.

Please don’t forget to RSVP on the invite link by December 8, 2021.

In keeping with the venue’s requirements, attendees must bring their vaccination card or a picture of it to the event.  (Please contact Brewster in advance with any questions or concerns about this.)

To order the appropriate amount of food, RSVP’s are critical. Please click on this form to automate your RSVP today and no later than December 8th.

The Chapter is covering much of the cost of this year’s hosted and catered club event and we will ask for a $20.00 contribution per attendee at the door, (cash/check).

Monthly Dinner Meetings | 6:30 – 8:30 PM Our meetings are an opportunity to share Alfa connections and support, and to plan upcoming events.  The chapter’s monthly dinner gatherings will be planned on a month to month schedule and in accordance to the latest CDC guidelines. We ask only fully vaccinated people to attend, and even then, only those who feel safe doing so. The dinners typically alternate between three DMV restaurant locations. If you’re new to the club, we encourage you to attend and meet your fellow Alfisti members.

October 23, 2021. Photos from the recent drive. Didn’t get a chance to join Phil and Rita Schleider’s organized annual Fall Colors drive through the Maryland countryside? Here are some member pictures posted from the day’s 70 mile drive culminating at Gunpowder State Park, Hammerman area. And yes, the weather was perfect! And if you wondered how some of the pictures were captured? Thanks to professional photographer and club member Nancy Slattery and nonprofessional but enthused board member, was caught standing-through-Brewster Thackeray’s Giulia-sunroof! Please forward any photos captured to BrewThack@gmail.com.

Next year’s event:

Next Spring, Brewster is looking at dates for a trip to the Antique Automobile Club of America Museum in Hershey PA. They have a brilliant display of Tuckers that used to be curated by our late Chapter friend David Cammack, plus many cool cars, motorcycles, and even toy trains to ensure something for everyone.

TBD 2022 | All Italian Car Show, Vienna, VA | For years we’ve watched British, German, and Japanese marques host annual car shows in the area, and wondered why there was no Italian car show in Washington D.C. So this year, we’re going to have an even bigger Concorso! We welcome cars from Virginia, Maryland, the District and beyond. The DC Italian Car Show typically draws cars from Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Ferrari, Maserati, Autobianchi, and Siata, as well as Italian motorcycles. We look forward to seeing 100+ shiny examples of local Italian automotive art on display in 2022.

TBD 2022 | Tech Session | London Auto Services.

If you’re interested in organizing a 2022 chapter club event or have other event ideas, please contact the Chapter President, Brewster Thackeray, BrewThack@gmail.com.
