DMV Area Alfisti? Join Us!

The Capital Chapter is one of the oldest and remains one of the largest among the Alfa Romeo Owners Club founded in 1959, barely one year after our national Club began. Back then Alfas were rare — hard to find, difficult to maintain, challenging to understand — and the Club gave enthusiasts (“Alfisti”) a place to learn, how to keep them happy, to exchange knowledge and parts, and to share their passion. There are more of these cars now, as 21st-century Alfas have joined the vintage ones. Joining the Capital Alfa Romeo Club is a great way to learn more about these iconic Italian cars, participate in social events, get tech help, and make lifelong friendships along the way…and drive! 

If you are an Alfa owner, or someone interested in this century-old Italian automotive brand, we’d love to get to know you and share the thrills of the open road, the show field, and the track!

The Alfa Romeo Owners Club (AROC) is a national organization. You can join the Club at www.aroc-usa.org. If you live in our region (Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia), select the Maryland MD (Chapter 04) Capital Chapter AROC membership, to sign on to our Chapter at no additional cost. Joining AROC with the Capital Chapter Standard membership is $68.00 annually.

Alfisti, start your engines! On Halloween morning October 31, our Chapter hosts our annual Fall Colors Tour.

This will be the eighth iteration of a grand tradition started by our inspired Chapter Vice President Phil Schleider (with the key support of Rita Schleider and other volunteers). This  year Phil is taking a well-earned break from organizing it due to other commitments, but the event will proceed as planned. I have re-scouted and lightly revised a tour based on the 2023 drive and they will again provide a chance for spirited driving through gorgeous Maryland countryside.

Participants are encouraged to arrive early to Hunt Valley Horsepower at the Hunt Valley Mall, 118 Shawan Road, Cockeysville. This weekly cars-n-coffee style event starts at 8:00 and arriving early is a good idea to get a fine spot to park and in order to enjoy breakfast snacks and take in the bounty of vehicles on display at this wonderful regional automotive gathering. Look for Alfas — and for those who don’t know me I’ll be wearing a black and red Alfa club jacket. At 9:20 I will lead a driver’s meeting and distribute driving directions, and then we will head out on the roads.

Following a 65-mile, 2+ hour drive through rolling hills and scenic backroads we will arrive by noon at Kecco’s Neopolitan Kitchen at 114 Westminster Pike in Reisterstown. Kudos to Phil for building a strong relationship with this excellent restaurant. Your only costs are the food you order plus tax and tip.

The meal at Kecco’s will take the place of our November dinner meeting. If your schedule does not allow for the drive but you wish to attend the lunch, please let me know.

Yes this is on Halloween! Costumes are encouraged. For people and/or cars as desired.

Photo contest: After the drive, each participant is encouraged to submit the best photo you took in each of three categories: Cars; Scenery; and Halloween. The winning entries will be shared on the Chapter website and at the Holiday Party in December.

2) Costumes are welcome

4) Driver’s Meeting at 9:20

5) Drive that Alfa! We depart the parking lot at 9:30

6) Take photos for the photo contest

7) Lunch at Kecco’s starting at noon

8) Event concludes around 1:30 so you have time to get home before the trick-or-treaters arrive.
